about

Sonic Bliss is an instrumental Rock band that infuses elements of Post/Psychedelic/Progressive/Ambient/shoegaze/experimental. Their album "The Battle for Peace, Love and Empathy." was Recorded in Los Angeles, Portugal and Brooklyn. and will be released in Febuary 2015

Founded in late 2013 by solo acoustic guitar instrumentalist James Sera after meeting drummer Paul Heiman late one night playing a set with his experimental solo drum project "MUNGO" at the now defunct Brooklyn music venue Goodbye Blue Monday. Even though Paul would be in New York for only a week, the two got together the very next day. The two hit it off musically instantly. for instance the first time and thing they played was a 4o minute jam which would later turn into the title track "The Battle For Peace, Love and Empathy. After playing together a few more times and a really successful surprise mini set at Goodbye Blue Monday, the two decided to work, record and try to explore the sound and magic that they both created together. James dropped everything he was doing and drove out to California to start working with Paul.

Recording took place throughout 2014, the primary Recording of James and Paul took place in Los Angeles. Through a mutual friend of James, Cellist Helena Espvall (Espers, The Valerie Project) agreed to play Cello. Those tracks were recorded in Lisbon, Portugal.
Back home in Brooklyn, James not happy with the bass tracks he recorded recruited local Bassist/session player Dave Smith (Chelsea Wolfe, Blondie) to lay down some new bass tracks.

Once everything was recorded, the album was mixed in Montreal by Efrim Menuck of Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Album artwork by Brooklyn artist Jason Tudor
